Mingyue Luna He

Jewellery & Metal (MA)

About

Luna/Mingyue He (b. 2001) is a jewellery artist who graduated from Central Saint Martins with a degree in Jewellery Design. She received the Cartier Scholarship in 2022, and her works have been exhibited at London Design Week and Munich Jewellery Week.

Her work primarily explores the relationship between memory and smoke. “Memory is as fleeting and elusive as smoke, dissipating in an instant and leaving only a vague trace, symbolizing its fragility and transience.” The drifting and fading of smoke mirrors the formation and dissolution of memories. To explore the ephemeral nature of memory and the passage of time, Luna uses smoke as an immaterial medium, utilizing its unique characteristics to create different effects and colors on metal surfaces.

In this collection “Ephemeral”, the objects are seen as “boxes”, symbolic spaces representing the inner world and hidden memories. Emphasizing the fragmented nature of memories and the need to reassemble and preserve them, she aims to resonate with the audience and evoke their own memories.
