About
Wenqin Fan is an artist based in London. She graduated from China Academy of Art in 2023. Since childhood, Wenqin has harbored a deep passion for painting. Her journey began with systematic studies in high school, focusing on painting techniques and theoretical knowledge. This path led her to major in oil painting as an undergraduate. Over the past eight years, she has honed her skills and deepened her artistic expertise.
“When I paint, I experience an unparalleled sense of calm. It’s a flow state where I feel connected to the world.” Wenqin believes in the animistic essence of all things, which is why her works focus on nature and the relationship between nature and humanity. The Anthropocene, as a metaphor for the concept of a life community, does not affirm humanity. Instead, its emergence might signify the beginning of human extinction. In this context, my work speak up for the weak, akin to a natural lamentation.
Wenqin tends to try and challenge the unknown in painting. She combines painting with installations and images to foster interaction with viewers, often employing interdisciplinary and multimedia experimental methods. Her further studies at RCA provided her with a de
