About

Naixin Mo is an architectural and interior designer based in Guangdong, China, who graduated with a bachelor’s degree from the Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA) in China. He is also a researcher and recorder of Chinese architecture, focusing on the marginalised and forgotten voices and memories of Chinese architecture, which he terms Another Architecture.” This concept does not explore spatial forms but rather the everyday life of people within architectural spaces.

Architecture, as a “carrier and container of collective memory,” is a role he explores further by examining the adaptive reuse design of old buildings, critically addressing the memories they hold.

In the RCA MRes program, unlike the Fusuijing Building as a “Communist mansion,” he explored another Fusuijing Building from the perspective of the original residents’ collective memory, showcasing the more ordinary and everyday aspects of the building’s life.
