About

Shen Xu is a textile and costume designer who graduated from Wimbledon College of Arts with a focus on Costume design, and is currently pursuing the Textiles MA course at Royal College of Art.

In her practice, Shen located herself as a story-teller, utilizing diverse materials and techniques to build scenes that express her deep understanding of concepts.

With a keen interest in Chinese culture, Shen showcased her understanding of Chinese aesthetics in the project ‘Garden for Solitary Enjoyment’, incorporating the concept of ‘Chinese solar term’. Shen developed her idea from a Chinese ancient painting ‘Garden of Solitary Enjoyment(独乐园图)’.

In Shen’s work, she pays meticulous attention to detail, particularly focusing on color accuracy to ensure that each aspect of her work is perfected.
