About

Lijiao Peng is a multidisciplinary artist who explores the intersection of sociology, nature, and the perception of time in the context of postmodern digital society. Her research focuses on visualizing human sensory experiences through an avant-garde approach to mixed media, oil painting, and textile art.

Being trained as a Fine Artist at the China Academy of Art, she spent time developing her interdisciplinary practice, and since joining the Royal College of Art, she has focused on textiles as her primary medium to conduct in-depth research. Her practice combines photography, painting, and textile techniques like shibori and natural dyeing to develop unique visual patterns and textures.

Through her work, Lijiao aims to inspire people to refocus and perceive the overlooked moments in our fast-paced, digital lives. She captures fleeting moments of light and color in nature, translating them into immersive temporal experiences that express sensory fluidity and spatial compression.

Her interdisciplinary approach allows her to delve into the complexities of human perception and the ever-changing nature of contemporary society. By combining traditional techniques with digital tools, she creates thought-provoking pieces that encourage viewers to engage with art in a tactile and interpretive manner.
