Helena Lacy

Ceramics & Glass (MA)

About

Helena Lacy is a London-based ceramicist who creates sculptures and one-of-a-kind furniture pieces. Material exploration is central to her work, particularly how materials layer and interact to replicate natural patterns. Her work reflects a balance between structure and unpredictability.

Fascinated by natural movements and distortions, Lacy experiments with glazing techniques that mimic the flows of water, lava, and other natural phenomena, balancing control and spontaneity.

Lacy is currently pursuing a Master’s in Ceramics at the Royal College of Art, building on her degree in Technical Arts and Special Effects from the Wimbledon College of Art (2014) and her numerous residencies, including Shiro Oni Studio in Japan, AARK in Finland, and Zentrum Für Keramik in Berlin.

Lacy has exhibited work around the world including the UK, Paris, New York, Netherlands, Spain and Japan.

Her project “Object Narratives” aims to highlight the connections between natural objects and their environments, using innovative ceramic printing techniques to tell their stories. The project emphasises preserving and amplifying the often overlooked details in nature, showcasing the unique histories and narratives within each object.
