Shubham Kelkar
About
Shubham is an architect from India. After obtaining his degree, Shubham accumulated valuable experience in the field, honing his skills and deepening his understanding of architectural design and its impacts. Motivated by a desire to extend his design influence beyond the traditional boundaries of architecture and reach a broader audience, he chose to pursue a Master’s in Design Products at the Royal College of Art (RCA). This decision reflects his ambition to integrate his architectural expertise with product design, aiming to work across both fields and create solutions that have a wide-reaching impact.
His practice is characterized by a strong commitment to sustainability, a keen interest in multifunctional design, and a penchant for minimalism. These principles not only reflect in his architectural background but also significantly influence his approach to product design.
Shubham’s current project, “Toy It,” exemplifies his innovative approach. This project features a stroller designed to evolve through various configurations, catering to different stages of a child’s growth from infancy to pre-adolescence. By doing so, “Toy It” addresses critical environmental issues by minimizing waste and enhancing the product’s lifecycle through upcyclability. This project not only showcases Shubham’s creative and practical capabilities but also underscores his dedication to creating design solutions that are both sustainable and transformative.
