About

He Xia (Weiss, born 1995, China), @weiss_707, is an interdisciplinary artist whose works range from sculpture, installation, performance, and painting.

She graduated with first-class honors in Sculpture from Academy of Fine Arts, Venice. Her works were displayed in various art exhibitions such as Tate Modern, Royal College of Art, University of the Arts London, etc.

He Xia’s works primarily revolve around two main themes. The first theme is
relatively serious and relates to anthropology, such as the relationship between
the evolution of civilization and time, or its relationship with history; the
interaction between human memory and public opinion; the differences
between natural development and human evolution, and other artistic
transformations of these issues. The second theme focuses on humor and
individual human differences.

Many times, He considers herself more of a narrator, rather than an opinion giver.
He Xia expresses the phenomena she observes or the issues she wants to discuss in a relatively objective manner without offering too many subjective opinions. Usually, she is emotionally impacted by a social event or phenomenon, which ignites her
desire to express herself. She then finds suitable materials and forms of expression
to convey what she wants to express.

At the same time, she likes to convey information as objectively as possible. Raising a question in her work, she hopes that the audience will think independently about the field or industry she is addressing. He fully supports the audience forming different opinions from hers after viewing her work. Thinking is the most important element to her. In this era, there are too many headlines, too much information, and too little thinking.
