Edyta Jaworek

Contemporary Art Practice (MA)

About

Edyta’s works take the form of painting, sculpture, installation, and words. She is currently interested in the subjects of sport, time, memory, repetition, language, and the question of who we are in the summertime or while performing a sport. In particular, swimming and water-related activities are a substantial source of inspiration for her work. Edyta’s interest in this subject comes from her enjoyment of being in or near water, and her fascination with the qualities of water as a substance as well as the formal challenges of representation it poses. In 2018 she swam from Asia to Europe across the Bosphorus strait — a feat that continues to propel her artistic engagement with ideas about water, endurance, duration, repetition, athleticism, movement, and time.
