Weng Shan is an animation director and graphic designer from Klang, Malaysia. Deeply influenced by the background of graphic design, her works blends her sense of graphical imagery into films she made.
Her past experience spans from narrative animation, animated documentary to immersive abstract films exploring the depth of human emotions. Her recent graduate film, Existence, delves into the emotional process of coming to terms with the realities of existence inspired by Albert Camus’ Absurdism, offering a narrative that is deliberately open-ended and subject to individual interpretation.
Driven by a passion for visual storytelling and a keen eye for design, she’s dedicated to pushing the boundaries of animation, creating works that not only captivate audiences but also evoke deep emotional responses. As evident from her past experiences, she shows a willingness to explore different styles and challenge unknown areas.
