Summer Mapplebeck
About
Summer Mapplebeck was born in Aberdeen, Scotland (b. 2001) and graduated with a BA (hons) in painting from Grays School of Art in 2023.
Her practice evolves around the preservation of fleeting moments with close pals, which are captured on camera, then painted. There is a sense of the uncanny and humorous qualities within the work she produces, adding to the environment of being at a gaff.
While painting has been at the centre of her practice for the past year, she also focuses on printmaking (primarily relief and drypoint).
Summer will return to Grays School of Art this September for the Graduate in Residence programme before moving back to London to complete the Turps Banana painting studio programme in 2025.
