About

Siyi Sun earned a Master of Arts degree in Jewellery and Metal from the Royal College of Art (RCA) in London in 2024. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Metals& Jewelry Design from the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), New York. Acknowledged for academic excellence, she made the RIT Dean’s List, and joined the Honors Program as an Outstanding Undergraduate Scholar. She also co-received the Tiffany’s scholarship, for ethics and leadership in the studio. In 2023, she received The Vice Chancellor’s Achievement Scholarship and the Outstanding Achievement Gift Card from RCA for her high-scoring portfolio.

 

Since 2021, she has been a student member of Ethical Metalsmiths in the United States and was invited to join the Women’s Jewelry Association as a student member in 2022. Additionally, her work has received numerous honors in various competitions and exhibitions. In 2024, her work was featured in Munich Jewelry Week magazine. In 2023, she won awards in the International Environmental Protection Art Creation Competition, the Singapore Art Design Competition, the Britain International Creative Competition, the Hong Kong Contemporary Design Awards, the Japan Concept Art Design Competition, and the G-CROSS Creative Award from the British Industrial Design Council. Her undergraduate thesis was also honored to be selected for the student exhibition organized by the Society of North American Goldsmiths (SNAG).

 

Passionate about the Cubist art movement, Siyi explores a diverse approach to sculptural form. Incorporating her cross-disciplinary exploration, her works delve into various potentials for combining metal, glass, ceramics, sculpture, woodworking, and painting. She views jewellery as a mirror reflecting the inner world and a bridge to the external, treating her creations as powerful armour.
