Jacqueline Seddon

Painting (MA)

About

Jacqueline Seddon is a British painter, currently living and working in London. She uses the diversity and vibrancy of the urban landscape as a constant source of inspiration allowing her to interrogate and capture the essence of the cityscape. Interpreting, combining and constructing daily experiences into layered abstract paintings of imagined landscapes fused with colour, movement, rhythm and energy of the city.

She received her BA in Fine Art at Chelsea College of Arts before pursuing a Masters in Painting at the Royal College of Art.

As I walk or move through the city, retracing my steps in both directions, I gain fresh perspectives on familiar spaces. By merging new observations with past experiences, I adjust, refine and reposition my personal visual maps, deepening my awareness of the spatial and social dynamics in public spaces, whether in established or emerging neighbourhoods or communities.

Painting and walking are interwoven, experimenting and discovering new routes or materials, being lost, discovering unseen and hidden connections, reflecting to understand and learn, evolving finally into the abstracted imaginings of a painting which are as meaningful as the journeys that inspired them.
