Leixinyi Li (Sinyi/ diao), born on 18 August 2002 in Wuhan, Hubei, China, is a multifaceted artist, animator, illustrator, and designer. Her artistic practice is distinguished by experimental 2D animations and music animations that often delve into social issues, personal emotions, and themes related to her hometown and family. Through her work, she strives to create a deep resonance with her audience, offering them insights into the contemporary era and the unique charm of Eastern culture.

Leixinyi began her formal art education at the Hubei Institute of Fine Arts (HIFA) in 2019, where she graduated from the School of Animation and Digital Arts in June 2023 with a focus on animation. In the same year, she was accepted into the Royal College of Art (RCA) in the United Kingdom. She completed her postgraduate studies in animation at RCA in 2024.

Currently residing in the UK, Leixinyi continues to develop her craft, blending her technical expertise with her cultural heritage to produce compelling and thought-provoking animations that connect with viewers on a profound level.

  • Led a team of three, shouldering key responsibilities in scriptwriting, pre-production art, and prop fabrication.
  • Played a pivotal role in introducing a flat collage approach, leading to a notable breakthrough.

Experimental Animation: Modern Medicine                                                                                                                                                                    

  • Crafted all elements independently, including scriptwriting, storyboarding, character design, voice acting, and music composition.
  • Integrated social issues and real-life themes into the artwork for the first time.
  • Presented the work in a public setting, taking into account the audience’s perception and opting for a black-and-white color scheme as a creative challenge.

Animation Interaction: The Sun                                                                                                                                                                                              

  • Developed all elements independently.
  • Acquired painting techniques from peers with diverse expertise, including traditional Chinese ink painting.
  • Integrated interactivity and animation into the exhibition space, successfully meeting the challenge.

Stop-Motion Character Animation: Alley Cat’s Gourmet Journey                                                                                                                        

  • Designed all elements independently and Integrated elements from my hometown’s distinctive environment and cuisine into the artwork for the first time.
  • Made a breakthrough in crafting clay characters and incorporating live-action backgrounds.

Music Animation: Green                                                                                                                                                                                                              

  • Handled all aspects of the production independently, with the exception of background music.
  • Engaged in hands-on research on liquid deformation and flat transitions.
