Dalion Huang
Dalion, an experimental artist, taoist, game enthusiast.
In his research project he uses video game’s experience as technology of the self, to explore identity within re-imagined Chinese folklore and Taoist culture.
Utilizing an interdisciplinary approach, Dalion combines autoethnography, folklore, and iconology to form poetic art practices. His work highlights the role of video games in preservation and reinterpretation of cultural narratives of Chinese traditions. It providing a safe space for players to engage in spiritual practices and cultural reflection, these digital experiences help Chinese players consitute their self-identity and connect with their cultural heritage under political regulation. Also it offering a unique perspective on contemporary identity formation and cultural continuity.
