About

Fang Yuancheng, a Chinese graphic designer, artist, and researcher, completed her undergraduate studies in Visual Communication at Macau University of Science and Technology. She is currently a postgraduate student in MRes Communication at the Royal College of Art.with a rich background in graphic design. Her practice project primarily focuses on the concept of “technological parasitism,” exploring how technology deeply embeds itself into human life and produces profound impacts. Leveraging her background in visual communication, she expands her practice from two-dimensional graphics to three-dimensional models.

Her project employs 3D modeling, material experimentation, installation art, and model displays to explore the complex relationships between technology, human behavior, and social structures. Combining theoretical research and practical application, she has created four technological parasitism models, predicting and showcasing the potential forms of future technological devices and their possible impacts on human life.

Flowing” is a visual concept video based on the four technological parasitism models, using strong visual and musical effects to further illustrate the theme of technological parasitism. The video emphasizes the dynamic and expansive nature of technological parasitism, encouraging the audience to reassess their dependence on technology.

Through her research and practice, she hopes to foster a deep understanding of the complex relationship between technology and society, promoting harmonious coexistence between technology and humanity. By continually pursuing artistic innovation and interdisciplinary research, she is committed to advancing the fusion of technology and art, providing new artistic perspectives and solutions for the development of human society.
