Rachel Fonseca Burtt: Of The Deep And Boundless Blue Sea
@rach__3.0
Throughout her time at RCA, Rachel combined film and sound works with design in order to investigate complex urban and architectural occurrences. Often her work aims to reveal the hidden, whether physical or historical. Hanko, at the Southernmost tip of Finland provides the location of the final year project. The final film (16mm) and design outcomes reflect on the changing marine environment; the occurrence of eutrophication in the Baltic Sea, and its entanglements with the architecture of the town. It lulls you into a nostalgic memory of seaside holidays before descending into a feverish dream, as hidden contradictions and complexities are revealed. Identity is questioned, the need for a change and the importance of knowledge and care formed by spending time in nature.
