Guo Tian (Tanya)
About
My name is Guo Tian (Tanya), originally from Beijing, China, I completed my BA study at the Architectural Association School of Architecture (AA), where I developed a deep love for architecture and spatial design. Feeling the need to deepen my knowledge and explore new areas within my field, I decided to pursue a Master’s in Interior Design at the Royal College of Art (RCA) in London. The RCA stood out to me for its commitment to innovation and its integration of emerging technologies in design, aligning perfectly with my aspirations. I am particularly fascinated by the potential of artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and sustainable materials to transform interior spaces.
This year, my work has focused on transforming the industrial site at 23-24 Gillender Street into a rehabilitation center for sports injury patients. By investigating the tactile qualities of curved bricks and soft edges, I uncovered a narrative of comfort within the stark factory setting. My project aims to humanize this inhuman space, creating a healing sanctuary that seamlessly supports patients through their recovery journey. Through thoughtful design strategies, I have sought to blend functionality with emotional and psychological well-being, emphasizing the importance of human-centric architecture in healthcare.
Outside of my academic and professional pursuits, I am passionate about exploring the world. Traveling to different countries and experiencing diverse cultures and architectural styles has greatly influenced my design philosophy, enriching my understanding of spatial dynamics and human interaction with built environments. Looking to the future, I aim to start from my foundation in both interior design & architectural design and expand my expertise to become versatile across all design areas. My goal is to be adaptable and innovative, sustainable, continually pushing the boundaries of what is possible in design and making a meaningful impact on people’s lives through thoughtful and inclusive design solutions.
