Yiying Gu is an interior designer who has focused on the field of interior architecture throughout her undergraduate and graduate studies, accumulating extensive experience and knowledge. In her learning and creative processes, she pays particular attention to how materials and structures within a space influence human behavior, the functionality of the space, and their impact on the environment. During her studies at the Royal College of Art, Yiying delved deeper into the application of materials and firmly believes that more sustainable and eco-friendly materials will be widely used in the future. She is dedicated to exploring how to utilize these materials to create spaces that are not only aesthetically pleasing and functional but also environmentally friendly.

The “Eco Card House” project focuses on studying cardboard. By observing and experimenting with cardboard, the project is a retail store dedicated to transforms recycled waste cardboard into exquisite items and provides experiential workshops to change people’s perception of waste cardboard. Through the concepts of recycling and upcycling cardboard, the project aims to demonstrate how such sustainable design practices can be extended to other materials in the future. “Eco Card House” encourages the community to rethink waste and see the beauty and utility in what might otherwise be discarded.
