Ziqi Cao
About
Originally from China, Ziqi Cao is an interior designer who now focuses on interior design combined with other cross-disciplinary subjects. In recent years, Ziqi’s work has centered on the concept of ‘in-between’ and narrative spatial design. Currently, Ziqi is working on a proposed PhD project that concentrates on the ‘in-between’ concept in the narrative spatial design of fashion brand exhibitions.
Through her bachelor’s and master’s programs, Ziqi has gained a deep understanding of space and maintained professional abilities in spatial design. These experiences have equipped her to more effectively frame her future research based on perception and materiality.
On the Matters platform, Ziqi focuses on the characteristics and applications of materials. Her final project, “The Cotta House”, is a communal bakery kitchen that uses innovative materials like wheat composite bricks and unique tiles. The design fosters creativity, memory sharing, and emotional healing through baking, creating a supportive environment for connection and well-being.
