Qing An
About
I am Qing An, an artist from China currently completing my Master of Fine Arts degree in London. My work explores the relationship between human emotions and the natural and living environments. Initially, I focused on visual and graphic design, which allowed me to build a solid foundation in design skills. Now, I have expanded my practice to include installation art and material research, delving deeper into emotional fluctuations and environmental resonance.
My creative inspiration comes from personal life experiences, focusing on phenomena and issues that arise, and studying the relationship between humans and all living beings. I aim to provoke thought about societal creations and benefits, uncovering the deeper meanings behind social phenomena and examining people’s living conditions and self-awareness.
My creative process is intuitive and free-flowing, without a predetermined end for each piece. Instead, I let the creative process itself dictate the final form of the work. I prefer to use visualization to explore the connections between individuals and their surroundings. In future research, I intend to delve deeper into the relationship between inner states and social, political, and cultural contexts.
In my work, I perceive real-world phenomena, derive abstract conclusions, and emphasize ideological and spiritual messages. Through daily observation and field research, I combine the materiality of objects with geometric abstraction, balancing abstract and concrete elements. Natural changes, social phenomena, and personal experiences profoundly influence my work. I create intuitively, allowing the process to shape the final form of each piece.
As an artist, my goal is to use design to awaken people, address social issues, and promote societal development. Through in-depth exploration of art and design, I continually establish my unique design style and artistic language. We are always connected to our times through our emotions and experiences. While people in all eras long for the fragrance of flowers and the sweetness of love, I aim to express human vulnerability and spiritual constraints, especially in this particular era.
Art will accompany me throughout my life, and I am not in a hurry to rapidly develop my artistic language. Like adding bricks and tiles to a building, I hope to gradually form my own design style and artistic language through continuous and in-depth research in art and design.
