Ksenia Volkova
About
Ksenia Volkova is an artist born in Moscow, Russia. In her works she focuses on both illustration and ceramics, discovering new ways to combine the two.
Her background in illustration significantly influences the ceramic practice, allowing her to incorporate figurativeness, character design, and narrative storytelling into her work. These tools often take centre stage in her creations, allowing her to express complex themes and stories aligning them with the material qualities of the ceramic medium.
Through the image of her created character Ksenia explores emotional intelligence and cognitive complexity of human behaviour and use the character as a collective image to speak about relationships, feelings, states and emotions.
Ksenia tells stories which could intersect with stories of others. She sees herself as a story-teller, and whether she choses clay or illustration, her main focus is the narrative.
