As a feminist artist, Catia Silvestre fearlessly navigates the complex and multifaceted realms of femininity through her art. She delves into the intricate tapestry of the feminine experience whilst exploring the themes of femininity, the monstrous feminine, and the transformative nature of these deemed unruly bodies. Her work challenges societal norms and perceptions, inviting viewers to question and engage with the nuances of representation, identity and womanhood.
With a background in Fashion Design, Catia has taken her artistic vision beyond traditional boundaries, collaborating on a series of projects with schools and Special Educational Needs (SEND) children. Through these collaborations, she has brought to life the unique and vibrant fashion visions of young minds, fostering creativity and inclusivity.
Catia has also collaborated in creative projects for domestic violence survivors, drawing inspiration from her own journey of resilience and self discovery. This personal journey infuses her work with a profound depth, inviting viewers to reflecton the resilience and strength within the process of reclaiming one’s sense of self.
Currently pursuing a master’s degree in contemporary art practice, Catia is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of her artistic expression. Her academic journey serves as a platform for the exploration of innovative ways to convey her profound ideas, seeking to redefine andexpand the discourse surrounding femininity, mutating bodies, and the rebellious spirit within her art.
With an unwavering commitment to empowering through creativity, Catia invites audiences to join her on a transformative visual journey that challenges preconceptions and celebrates the diversity and tremendous power of feminine experiences.
