About
Hi, thank you for coming to view my profile. I am Yifan.
My works appear silly and nonsensical at first glance; however, they are actually connected by two underlying themes: exploring how images map the multidimensional aspects of the real world, and observing how digital technology alters our understanding of the world.
From the collision between two-dimensional and three-dimensional images to the unique properties of digital images, each piece interprets the profound relationship between images and digital technology through my perspective. The works “MTV: Will Future Human Be Descartes’ Ghosts?” and “Game Launch – A Oneday Romance with ChatGPT” explore issues of AI and self-awareness, while “How to Dehumanize” delves deeper into this theme by employing the exaggerated theme of “decolonizing AI from human colonization,” challenging the prevalent human-centric perspective in the realms of machines and artificial intelligence. “Russell the Explorer: The Kingdom of Syllogisms” and “Letter Reading: Advocating for the 2D Rights” challenge the conventional views on two-dimensional existence. “Live Report: Opposition to Image Migration” and “Guest Interview: Rethinking Digital Images” discuss how digital image editing impacts the construction of identity and authenticity. Through “Small Talk Theory: The Mechanics of Energy”, “How to Organize Concepts: Socrates and the Pig,” and “Operational Dance: On Folding Techniques,” I attempt to explore new ways of understanding the world using digital gestures and language.
I have an affinity for the “substandard” because, in my view, their rough surfaces are breeding grounds for new ideas. Good works need not be perfect; they should simply bring a knowing smile while sparkling some urge of creation. I hope my works serve as this rugged stepping stone, inviting you to explore our interactions with the world in the digital age from your own perspective.
