Yule Wang
About
2000, China.
Grind poetry for mirror, accumulate dreams as food. Beyond the image, wonders to behold.
Yule is a multidisciplinary artist whose work involves digital image making, film installation, writing and printing.
Growing up in a kind of nomadic life with her parents, it became almost instinctive for her to observe life in its thousand forms. “I am fascinated by those states of uncertainty, where the ever-dissolving, ever-changing boundaries never overwhelm me, but stimulate me to embrace new possibilities.”
Starting with her very embodied experiences, try to weave together enigmatic narratives that draw inspiration from both ancient and modern civilizations, fusing fantasy mythology, Chinese folk rituals, classical literature and poetry. She likes to play with overlapping layers and transparency, exploring the use of skillful rhythms, hormonal bubbles and imagination to construct spiritual spaces of cultural heritage and personal emotions.
