Curating Contemporary Art (MA)

About

As a curator, I believe in creating interaction experiences that stimulate dialogue and critical thinking, focusing on exploring social, cultural, and psychological issues. Through logical thinking training in mathematics in college and my enduring curiosity and long-term attention to global political, economic, cultural, and social issues, I have embarked on an analysis and research of the impacts and evolutions of destructive events on past and contemporary socio-cultural and human psychological conditions.

Artistic works reflect the socio-cultural context of each era and document how significant events impact human life. In contemporary society, technological advancements, human migration, and medical progress have facilitated more immediate and pervasive direct and indirect influences. As a result, many traditional rituals and ways of life have disappeared, changed, or been replaced, leading to the evolution of modern social culture, thought, and issues. These issues include ecological and climate problems, racial and cultural integration and divides, and uneven social development. They guide the development of new social groups and lifestyles within the broader human culture.

Viewing exhibitions as platforms for the transmission of culture and knowledge, fact-finding the effects of the events on social culture and psychological issues, transforming the spaces of the audience’s daily lives into venues for art showcases and utilising historical documents, literary works, and aesthetic creations as mediums to engage the audience. This has become the hallmark of my exhibition style. It establishes connections between artworks and viewers, among the viewers themselves, and between the viewers and society. This approach fosters a deeper and more intimate observation of society, prompting audiences to reflect on the legitimacy and rationality of the world around them, which guides the audience through narratives that explore the question, “How is my life composed?”
