About
My research interests explore themes of materiality and experience in the long eighteenth century. Coming from a background in Craft, specifically silversmithing, my work benefits from a tactile approach, informed by awareness of production methods and workshop processes. The main area of interest in my work is architectural ornament and the applications of Craft in architectural design. This led me to a dissertation project which explored the use of stained glass in Georgian domestic architecture to create visually enhanced interiors through experimental light and colour. During my MA year I was able to engage with different methods for writing histories and involving myself in wider cultural discussion. This took the form of editing along with co-authoring an interview for a student publication, ‘PUB’, focusing on the theme of third spaces. For the end of year symposium, entitled ‘I <3 things’, I led the design team, coordinating the marketing and visualisation for the event. In the symposium itself I had the opportunity to speak about my research interests and methods as part of a panel.
