About
Sensory experience and interactivity characterize my creations, I am passionate about exploring the connection between jewellery, objects, and the body.
The work Echo Beyond was inspired by my daily tea-drinking habit which not only brings physical alertness but also provides a sense of satisfaction and mental upliftment to me. I have established a connection with my exclusive cup through daily use, and it has become an emotional dependency. This reminded me of tea pets in traditional Chinese tea ceremonies, which have similar spiritual significance. In traditional tea rituals, spiritual companionship is gained through the accompaniment of specific items. However, for my personal preference and better adapting to the modern context, I wanted to simplify this process and maintain playfulness through the sound. Thereby enhancing the sense of ritual and companionship from common objects, thus achieving spiritual elevation.
Influenced by Zen philosophy, it pays more attention to the inner rather than the complicated exterior, emphasizing unintentional effects and enlightenment. To visualize this idea and achieve an unexpected effect, I hid the complex sound structures inside and chose the simplest appearance to highlight the sound. The auditory features of the objects will be triggered when people touch and interact with them. Wishing people to get a feeling beyond their expectations. The sound encourages sensory exploration, fostering relaxation and serving as a form of moving meditation.
Echo Beyond contains three series: the Rainstick series, the Tumbler series, and the jewellery series. Through design, items from different series can be combined and transformed, thus creating connections between different series and blurring the lines between jewellery and object.
