YouJin Seo
About
YouJin Seo is an interdisciplinary artist based in Seoul and London, working with jewellery, objects, space and body installations. She explores the theme of ‘Density’ through various materials and traditional silversmithing techniques to create conceptual and narrative jewellery and objects that people can interact with and find resonant.
Using density as a metaphor, she explores how people perceive and consume within a rapidly changing material world and how these experiences shape their identity and density.
How do we build our density? Starting with this question, she expresses different types and forms of human density through concepts such as ‘Interconnectedness’, ‘Fill(in)g Positive’, ‘Emptying Negative’, and ‘The repetitive process of filling and emptying intensifying our density’
Drawing on her background in Jewellery and Metal, she focuses on expressing the diverse forms of density through the various material properties and methodologies. She aims to expand the boundaries of jewellery and objects through interactive works, inviting wearers to feel the rhythm of density and reflect on what it means to wear and connect.
