About

Ela Ertan (b.1999) is an artist from London, UK. She produces work in a variety of media, including painting, photography, writing, drawing, and music.

She graduated from Edinburgh College of Art in 2021, where she studied BA Painting (Hons), and went on to study the MA Painting course at the Royal College of Art, graduating in 2024.

Ertan is a colourist painter – creating deeply personal work that explores the human condition through her own lived experience. Through her expressive, abstract works, she explores the notion of memory, fantasy and emotion. Her subjects often involve dreamlike landscapes, which occasionally introduce the figure.

‘I often draw from other media in my work; my photography, journal entries – or even from music I’m enjoying at the time. It is these combined elements that drive my practice – my experiences, and my documentation of my own lived experience is what drives my practice.’
