Harin Jeon
About
Harin Jeon(b. 1998) is a South Korean artist based in London.
Her artistic practice is centred around marginalised objects and people she encounters in her daily life. By bringing together abandoned and forgotten stories as the subject of her work, this is a kind of ritual that gives sacred meaning to foraged objects from the street. Through the process of ritualising found objects and adding layers of drawing and painting, she explores different forms each painting can take shape in. New meaning is given to the space through the way they are installed. Working from the material stratum, she creates a doorway connected to an imaginative utopian world where forgotten beings are revived with compassion. Within ornamentalized abstract images, she utilises shapes that are located between figurative and abstract. In addition, different fabrics are chosen to stimulate a multi-sensory emotional experience.
Her work has focused on stimulating visual senses to evoke tactile imagination. This approach enabled me to continue exploring the themes of identity, memory, and transformation in innovative ways. She strives to create a dialogue between different artistic practices. This integration invites viewers to engage with the intricate layers of identity and emotion, providing a holistic and multi-sensory exploration of the self. She aims to create experiences that captivate the eye, provoke introspection, and evoke emotional resonance, bridging the gap between the visual and the visceral.
