Tina Jane Hatton-Gore
About
@tinajanerca
Tina Jane Hatton-Gore is a London and Isle of Wight based fine artist examining the interface between life and non-life: Toby jugs carved in wood, scarecrows made from twigs. At what point do these figures, made by humans, of humans, for humans take on a life of their own? The innate aura of these artefacts allows us to connect to the past and the future through touch, smell, and visual appreciation. The ventriloquist dummy, crafted as entertainment, can speak the truth more directly than its creator. The rag doll, treasured within a specific context, can become an unnerving presence through random or staged placement. Tina Jane’s paintings explore these conflicts, reversing roles so that it is the viewer who is being scrutinised.
Tina Jane has completed her Masters in Painting Royal College of Art 2024.
