Painting (MA)

About

Yanyi Chen’s work centers on nature and traditional Eastern aesthetics, using abstract shapes to create atmospheres and reconstruct visual experiences. These shapes, like letters forming words, express new meanings when combined, demonstrating that even the smallest units can construct endless forms. The purity and simplicity of these elements reflect her personal philosophy, aspiring for clarity in both art and relationships.

She seeks to bridge classical Western and traditional Eastern aesthetics, exploring shared symbols, emotions, and subconscious expressions. This creative exploration also serves as a spiritual solace. Despite varied personal interpretations, her focus remains on seeking and representing meaning through metaphorical images.

Yanyi aims to evoke thoughts, emotions, and a sense of self-love and resilience against harsh realities. In the current global situation and deteriorating natural environment, she believes our spirits need attention. Through her art, she hopes to offer audiences a spiritual outlet.
