Arno Ivaldi
About
Arno Ivaldi is a French visual and performance artist, based in London, who graduate from the MA Photography at RCA in 2024. His work focuses on visual investigations that bring together his images and his writing practice, taking the form of projections/installations. He performs his “projected dreamscapes” to reflect the creative process.
It is through the ongoing capture, in photographs and in writing, of everyday life and the abnormalities that arise in it, that his artistic practice questions his memory – or the memory of others. What do these encounters, these individuals, these visions recorded in his archives bear witness to? Safeguarding memory, of course, but also cherishing it, accepting it painfully, building on it and then bringing it to life, will be seen as an obsession or a passion, it depends. He then sets up investigations to decipher the sensations, actions and attempts of these souls encountered in their environment and subjected to their rhythm.
There can be no visual investigation without the meticulous work of writing: recutting, pasting, assembling to bring to life the fusion between images and texts, through montages, moving images and especially performances. Nothing is left out, forgotten or put away: personal notes, love letters, imprecise translations, invasive videos or eternal readings.
He reclaims the melancholy, even a certain languor, expressed in his work. They are rooted in a desire for love, a quest for a certain romanticism, or his wanderings into boredom, slowness and creative idleness.
