About

Fengyang Zeng is an artist from China, currently completing her MA in Photography at the Royal College of Art. Her work  around themes of time, memory, death, and relationships. Through meticulous observation of life, she captures fleeting moments to resist the relentless flow of time. For five years, she documented the lives of 100 middle-class families in China’s first-tier cities, profoundly exploring the impact of time and memory on family relationships. In 2021, Her won first place in the IPA Family category and was shortlisted for the LensCulture Portrait Awards in 2024.

In her series “Echoes, Silence, Presence,” Fengyang combines sound, images, and installations to create a multi-sensory exploration of time and death. Inspired by Heidegger’s concept of “being-toward-death,” she delves into the fragility and impermanence of life through her personal experiences. Her work aims to provoke deep contemplation on life and death, striving to convey the emotional experiences of time and memory to the audience.
