About

Kaiyi Huang is a fine art photographer specializing in photographic printing media and bookbinding. She holds a Bachelor of Arts with Honors in Photography from Camberwell College of Arts and a Master’s degree from the Royal College of Art. Currently based in London. Kaiyi’s work primarily focuses on raising awareness about the urgency of rising sea levels caused by global warming.

Kaiyi’s inspiration comes from growing up in a seaside city, fostering a deep care and protection for the ocean. Over the years, Kaiyi has been captivated by the concept of imperfect beauty and the philosophy of Wabi-sabi, which are reflected in the relationship between Kaiyi’s works and their media.

Book: Sea Horizon

Sea Horizon” explores rising sea levels through four chapters. Kaiyi uses unique photography to capture the sea horizon above the ground, revealing global changes. The book explores humanity’s insignificance and its reflection in the face of disasters from global warming, and incorporates Zen art philosophy (Wabi-sabi) to shift our attitude towards nature. Through visual art and poetry, it highlights the urgency of environmental protection.
