Postponed Disbelief (2024 – Present)
Continuous battle between inability and desire to believe. Whether in divinity or the future—who cares, maybe they share the same mother. I sift through my family’s archival images, I translate them, blindly – the way I learnt to translate memories about my dreams that stuck in the language I don’t use anymore.
I repeat. It both terrifies and comforts me. Life is but a single moment, stretched out to eternity during a fall.
My parents were raised in a world of godless utopia. I was born nine years after God was reinvented. I don’t believe in it, but can I reinvent myself too?
There are days when I still fight a wish to believe. And days when I make pictures of a woman I can’t see, then the only thing left – to believe.
Sofiia graduated from the RCA in 2024, winning the Shadow Labs Award and receiving a Special Mention from Metro Imaging.
