About
During my time at RCA, I experimented with a shift in my art practice approach, placing intuition before thinking.
I tried using different artistic mediums to instinctively present my feelings and mind states. Over the past year, my art practice has unconsciously depicted a movement from self to subject.
I transformed symbols that appeared unconsciously in my dreams into ephemeral sculpture (Connection, 2023). While presenting the interaction between dreams and reality, I used this medium to establish connections with different people.
As I delved deeper into dream studies, I pondered the relationship between memory and space. I began using mirrors as a material to explore further possibilities in the medium of photography (Dream Space, 2024), exploring the idea that “The future through the past is the present.”
When I faced the mirror, I posed a new question: “How can I connect to the disconnected image of myself?” I started to realize that the subject exploring self-identity in the mirror was being observed by a third eye. My performance video (Brush [MY] Teeth, 2024) creates a cycle of gazes.
Subsequently, I began to trust my intuition, experiencing a process of emergence, convergence, and generation. I started using the mediums of sculpture and painting (Myself, Me, I, 2024), embarking on a new phase of exploration.
