Ziying Wang
About
Ziying Wang is a photographer and visual artist. After earning a Bachelor’s degree in Photography from AAU in San Francisco, he pursued further studies in art at RCA. His past photographic works have delved into the symbolism and subconscious emotions behind imagery and chromatics, constructing several projects in an abstract and surrealist manner. During his studies at RCA, he focused on exploring authenticity in imagery and using cross-media approaches to merge traditional medium with modern technologies such as artificial intelligence.
Restoration of Existence
This project is inspired by a central issue in metaphysics, the problem of Universals: whether properties like color, pleasure, and beauty exist independently or depend on what can be perceived.
Through arranged shapes, colors, and abstract transparent subjects, this project explores the Universals of conceptually existing properties stripped from the objects themselves. It also invites viewers to explore whether the emotions and reactions evoked when viewing abstract entities are universal or individual.
