About

Jing He is an illustrator and printmaking artist whose creations delve into the social phenomena hidden underneath everyday life. In the context of contemporary printmaking media, her works combine traditional and modern art, and her exploration of printmaking and modern materials enhances the visual impact and interactivity of her works.
In her stone lithography projects, Jing He focuses on the serious social issue of child trafficking. She combines the Chinese folklore of the Guhuo Bird – the incarnation of a dead woman in labour, who likes to steal children – with the real-life issue, and creates the theme of child abduction in a surrealistic way.
In another project, she focuses on social pressure, social stress, and the dynamic relationship between individuals and groups. This theme stems from a traditional custom in her hometown city of Wuxi – exchanging peaches with friends and family every summer. Because large quantities of peaches rot quickly in the hot summer, they become a burden. For this reason, she created large-scale transparent PVC inflatable peach sculptures , allowing the audience to experience this invisible pressure through interaction.
Through her cross-media explorations, Jing He hopes that her works will provide a profound visual and tactile experience for the audience, prompting people to remember these works and the social messages behind them.
