Jingyi Li
About
Jingyi (Jill) Li is an Chinese interdisciplinary artist based in London, whose works encompass illustration, performance, installation, and film. Jingyi’s works typically involve social commentary, exploring how the seemingly inclusive and free environment of “postmodern liberalism” affects our experiences and free will.
In her creations, Jingyi often examines how she is positioned within society. Her works are filled with rebellion (but not much), humor, and provocation, with forms revolving around conveying experiences, memories, and perceptions. She aims to evoke thought and discussion in the audience through intense sensory experiences. Using various media and materials that fit her themes, such as digital printing, video, and performance, she creates immersive spatial experiences, constantly questioning the identity with which the audience engages. Her works encourage introspection: whether in life or when viewing art, every emotion and action is unavoidable, and we must carefully consider the reasons behind them.
