About

Lines taking form

During my last couple years I have been studying and exploring relief printing process. I take inspiration from the landscape, historical and modern architecture ,patterns that surround me and the found images of exotic animals which are sometimes unreachable yet captured by someone else at the right time.

Detail have always attracted me, I understand that a world without details would be incomplete and relief printing Is all about making the right amount marks and cuts as details to bring out the subject. In my works I try to get the most realistic outcomes with mark making and layering of colours, i like how this medium needs discipline and planning to create the perfect print.

Through my prints I want my viewer to feel disconnected from their present moment and relive the landscape or the stare of the exotic animals looking back at them. To let them visit the architecture site by viewing the prints and reimagining the place.

I have noticed that the wildlife and organic species have the most unique details with asymmetrically balanced and the man made world with symmetrically balanced architecture this contrasts helps me balance my works , the play of symmetrical marks which need a lot of attention and play of asymmetrical cuts which needs be balanced.

My practice started with monochromatic prints working with different patterns to create grey shading in my subjects,  which were later developed in multi layered coloured prints, understating the process of reduction reflects my new series of work.

I invite you in the world of line taking from where all the lines make sense.
