About

Jiabei Men is an animator from China who wants to create every good story with great care and attention.

Dear Child is a 2D frame-by-frame animation that tells the story of a woman who writes three letters that tell the story of her life: as a child, the letter is addressed to a doll; as a middle-aged woman, the letter is addressed to a child she can’t keep; and in her old age, she writes to a daughter she gave birth to, but in the end she discovers that there is nothing in the letters, but what she wants to say to herself.

During her postgraduate year at rca, Jiabei Men hopes to tell an animation like a poem through her studies. Focusing more on story structure than drawing skills, she specialises in the use of montage and multi-line narratives, hoping to flesh out the story and make the characters more three-dimensional.
