Sarah Ziyi Pan

Animation (MA)

About

Sarah is an animator from Canada. Coming from a background of comics, she mainly focuses on 2D animation and has a special love for narrative storytelling and storyboarding. Much of her work draws inspiration from her own life and identity.

For her year at RCA, Sarah made a film titled “Untitled Voice Memo #4”. The film is about a girl who leaves a voice note dedicated to her best friend, in which she confesses her love for her. She outlines how she fell in love, and how she came to terms with her feelings being unrequited. This film explores themes related to queer love, heartbreak, identity, and conveys a message of unconditionally loving one’s fate.
