About

An Award winning Animator, Visual story teller, Designer and Illustrator from Bangalore, Karnataka, India.

With a background in Animation Film Design, Yugesh’s practice focuses on making the unseen seen. With narratives riddled with philosophical and ideological subtext, driven by complex characters, the idea of impermanence has a constant, deep-rooted subconscious presence in his films, much like the self-trademarked philosophy of ‘optimistic nihilism’. Contextually, his narratives deal with socio-political issues pariculartly within the South Asian context, dealing with issues of discrimination, injustice and identity.

The film ‘Bidevu’(2024) is a mixed media animated drama about the forgotten freedom fighters of South India, loss, representation and the evils of colonialism. Based on true accounts, the film deals with south asian indentity, particularly South Indian identity within an Indian historical context.

Growing up on comic books and animated TV shows, Yugesh’s visual cues have a strong influence of comic book art and traditional 2D Animation. With dynamic posing, high contrasted colours and a central “Hero” figure. The central figure often aligning thematically with the narrative and used as a vessel to pose philosophical and moral questions to the audience to, implant an idea.
