Yuqiao Li is an animator and illustrator from the lesser Khingan Mountains, Northeast China. She is passionate about creating regional stories about the unique cultural characteristics of her hometown.

She is currently a postgraduate student at the Royal College of Art, majoring in animation. Through her graduation project “The shout of the lesser Khingan Mountains”, she has deeply studied the ‘metalepsis’ expression in the structure of narrative animation and has been flourishing it with her own family’s history, public opinion, plaques, and ancestral culture. The film looks at history, identity, grief and loss.. Experimenting with a variety of styles and media mixes in an attempt to develop a new language that enables switching between multiple timelines and perspectives.
