This is my IRP project, it is a continuation from my world building unit, in which I would like to continue exploring about global warming, sea level rise, and the impact on human life. In terms of the presentation format, I refer to The Parasite Museum in Japan, where specimens of parasites are immersed in formalin for visitors to see. Based on this basic exhibition format, I have visited many modern science museums, and I found that most of them use interactive experiences for visitors to understand the project better. So at my booth I would have surgical gloves for visitors to use to remove my models from the glassware and look at them more closely.

This is my World Building project.This course gave me a good idea to present my project by presupposing a spectral event in order to present my critical thinking on how the world would change if the event came true. Therefore, I tried to maximize the extent to which sea level rise will worsen the situation, and to present my output as a demonstration of how humans will experience the backlash of marine pollution as they become inextricably linked to the oceans. Imagine if the sea levels rose much faster than human expectations, with more than 150 million people living on land that was below sea level, which didn't allow enough time for humans to build floating cities or take other measures. So in the world I've set up, scientists have begun research into artificially modifying human genes so that they can evolve rapidly to adapt to ocean life. As humans and the oceans become more closely linked，However, the sea was once polluted by humans, so the skeleton became diseased as humans evolved into fish. What humans have done to the oceans will be reflected in ourselves.

This project was my DS course assignment. I made this short film in the form of experimental animation. Choosing the right medium to convey my reflections on my own experiences is therefore very Important to me. In order to show the manipulation or the characters, I chose to present the wedding scene in the form of an ancient Chinese shadow puppet. I also drew traditional elements from the Wenzhou wedding ceremony to create a strong visual impact. At the same time, this short film uses Wenzhou dialect as the narrator, together with various instrumental music, such as erhu, which is grand but not happy, creating a sense or absurdity in the picture.

This is my MRes elective unit project. I once read a novel called The Book of Penguin Mermaids, which contains(ei) more than 60 mermaid legends and connects these legends to the local cultural context. The book mentions that people like a world with clear and orderly boundaries, but people are still attracted to the other side of the world. This is very much in line with my area of interest, and I enjoy exploring the reasons for the appear of legends more than the legends themselves. I believe that surreal creatures are not made up out of thin air by humans; they are often a true projection of human greed, desire and fear. I use a collage to visualize the information I have collected in a timeline.I'm going to talk about two main parts here，to show how legends story provoke the viewer to reflect on why reality is the way it is and get to the root of its contradiction.

I’m Mo Li, from China.

I graduated from the China Academy of Art, where I developed a keen interest in social issues, often drawing inspiration from them. In my spare time, I enjoy reading novels in the surrealist and magical realist genres. I am drawn to surrealism for its focus on anti-tradition and envisioning the future, and to magical realism for its exploration of inherent contradictions and connections between the past and the present, tradition and reality, all of which reflect real social phenomena.

Since starting my MFA degree, I have placed a strong emphasis on understanding the type of audience I am working with and continuously considering which medium to use to bridge the gap between the creator and the viewer. This approach helps me better convey the story that the designer aims to tell.
