Zoomed out - the texture resembles murmuration.

The grains resemble footsteps that symbolise a journey.

The pattern draws inspiration from grains of scattered rice that when individually placed may seem random, but finds meaning in the emergent pattern that is the sum of a whole.

The inspiration behind the artwork stems from an Indian cultural phrase called “daana pani” which translates literally to ‘grain of food and drop of water’. Intending to comfort us in times when we question the direction our life is taking, this saying reassures us that we are where we are meant to be, as that is where we’re meant to nourish ourselves with food and water. Similar to how our path leads us towards the morsel of grain and drop of water we are destined to consume, our life leads us to the success we are destined to enjoy, and even the struggle we are meant to endure.

Each piece is intended to capture these moments of transformation, inviting you to connect with your own journeys of self-discovery. She utilises abstract, digital, and photographic elements to create artefacts that convey deeply personal narratives. Amidst the transience of contemporary trends, Niya’s art seeks to be an anchoring force of stability. She seeks to collaborate with curators and space designers who also wish to create intimate multi-sensory art experiences for their audiences.
