“The genesis of this film was rooted in a personal experience: my frequent visits to a Chicken Shawarma restaurant. Each visit, I would specifically request no tomatoes in my meal. Invariably, the staff would add them anyway, only to remember my preference afterward and then remove them. This repetitive minor episode not only deepened my distaste for tomatoes but also triggered reflections on their symbolic significance. In my film, tomatoes transcend their role as a mere culinary item, becoming a metaphor for globalization and industrialization. They represent the subtle yet pervasive forces that quietly alter our world, akin to the invisible cultural and political currents reshaping our society. During the final term of my MFA in Communication at the Royal College of Art (RCA), I developed an interactive installation titled "Seaslug Cocoons Creations." This project explores the concept of information bubbles—situations where individuals are primarily exposed to viewpoints that reinforce their existing beliefs, thereby limiting exposure to diverse perspectives. This issue is increasingly relevant in the digital age, where personalized content streams often exacerbate these information cocoons, deepening cognitive biases. My work aims to shed light on how these information cocoons form and their impact on society. By engaging with this topic through the lens of interactive media and communication studies, I seek to contribute to the ongoing discourse on information dissemination and cognitive diversity. My name is Sihao Song, or you can call me lex. I am an Underground Artistic Labourer.

Underground represents my identity and experiences in the realm of hip-hop music. As a hip-hop music producer, I have been deeply involved in this field for the past 5 years. This journey has not only shaped my musical style but also instilled in me a commitment to authenticity and independence, resisting the influence of mainstream trends.

Artistic aspect of my identity goes beyond my creative endeavors; it also reflects my academic background and professional growth. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Digital Media Arts, which laid a solid foundation for me to explore the intersection of digital technology and art. Building on this, I pursued a degree in Communication at the Royal College of Art (RCA), where I developed a deeper understanding of how to effectively communicate with audiences through various visual languages. This academic journey has not only enriched my creative toolkit but also deepened my appreciation for art as a powerful medium of communication.

Labourer embodies my understanding of work ethic. I firmly believe that artistic creation is not merely a product of fleeting inspiration but requires continuous effort and practice. This laborious spirit drives me to constantly refine my skills and bring every creative idea to life. For me, labor is not just about effort; it is a process of exploration and growth.
