About

Yunqi Peng works as a graphic designer and independent art publisher under the pseudonym of ‘CheapBall’ in social media, alternative bookstores and art book fairs. With text, typography and graphic languages as visual methods, she uses independent art publishing and art book exhibitions as her main avenues of intercultural and subcultural practice.

She is now pursuing a PhD in the School of Communication, Royal College of Art. Her previous education includes MA in Visual Communication from Royal College of Art, London (2022), BA in Graphic Design & Art Direction from Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti, Milan (2020), BFA in Visual Communication from East China Normal University, Shanghai (2020).

Her work has won several awards including ‘Prize Nominee Works’ from Tokyo TDC (Tokyo Type Directors Club) Annual Awards 2023 and ‘Experimental Publication Design of the Year’ from 2023 Award 360°. Her work was presented in BranD magazine, Design 360° magazine and Asia-Pacific Design, and was exhibited in the museums and gallerys of Shanghai, Beijing, London, Singapore and other cities.
